Manila (dpa) – Philippine police have arrested three men for
allegedly stealing bones from a public cemetery, a police report said
Thursday.
The suspects were transporting 10 sacks when police accosted them
in Bacolod City, 495 kilometres south of Manila, late Wednesday.
Police said the officers became suspicious of the sacks, which
upon inspection proved to contain human bones.
During questioning, the suspects admitted to digging the bones up
from a nearby cemetery to sell to an unnamed buyer.
Investigators were preparing criminal charges and tracking down
the buyer of the bones, the report said.
