Saudi Princess Meshael Alayban, who was arrested in California on human trafficking charges, was released on $5 million bail, court officials said.
Alayban was arrested early Wednesday in her Irvine home for allegedly forcing a Kenyan woman to work as her servant for 16 hours a day, seven days a week with a salary of $220 per month.
Alayban’s release came after a hearing Thursday during which a California judge approved a protective order that bars her from contacting her former worker, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Alayban, wife of a Saudi prince, surrendered her passports.
The Kenyan woman told authorities she had signed a contract with an employment agency to work for Alayban for two years at $1,600 a month.
Authorities at the home said they found four other people working under similar conditions but no charges were filed in those cases.
