NASA Rocked By Climate Rebellion

Astronauts Condemn Nasa’s Global Warming Advocacy

In an unprecedented slap at NASA’s endorsement of global warming science, nearly 50 former astronauts and scientists–including the ex-boss of the Johnson Space Center–claim the agency is on the wrong side of science and must change course or ruin the reputation of the world’s top space agency. Challenging statements from NASA that man is causing climate change, the former NASA executives demanded in a letter to Administrator Charles Bolden that he and the agency “refrain from including unproven remarks” supporting global warming in the media. The letter was signed by seven Apollo astronauts, a deputy associate administrator, several scientists, and even the deputy director of the space shuttle program. —The Washington Examiner, 10 April 2012

In their letter, the group said that thousands of years of data challenge modern-day claims that man-made carbon dioxide is causing climate change. “With hundreds of well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other scientists publicly declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic forecasts, coming particularly from (NASA’s) Goddard Institute for Space Studies leadership, it is clear that the science is NOT settled,” they wrote. —The Washington Examiner, 10 April 2012

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites. We believe the claims by NASA and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when considering thousands of years of empirical data. The unbridled advocacy of CO2 being the major cause of climate change is unbecoming of NASA’s history of making an objective assessment of all available scientific data prior to making decisions or public statements. As former NASA employees, we feel that NASA’s advocacy of an extreme position, prior to a thorough study of the possible overwhelming impact of natural climate drivers is inappropriate. We request that NASA refrain from including unproven and unsupported remarks in its future releases and websites on this subject. At risk is damage to the exemplary reputation of NASA, NASA’s current or former scientists and employees, and even the reputation of science itself. –Letter to NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, Jr.

  1. It is about time that we admit we just don’t know. I commend these NASA people on their letter.
    We need to get more information before we make premature statements on something so complex and so uncertain up to this point.
    Their letter is exactly correct. We just don’t know yet.
    So get rid of these stupid carbon taxes in EU and Australia until we are sure.

  2. There have been so many certain facts that have contradicted the Elephant sized assumptions all through this debate that It should have been clear that such a straightforward claim of man made global warning was foolish.
    Farms found under melted ice,
    Clearly hotter times on earth in recent history,
    CO2 levels Following not Preceding Warmth etc….

    This has been fanned to flame by nothing more than a design to create international governmental infrastructure.
    It will be replaced by some other “Greater Good” requiring manufactured crisis when it has faded away.

    One of the things that betray the real motive has been the ridiculous approaches to Addressing CO2 as a cause.
    The most simple and natural and certainly effective methods to reduce CO2 emissions were deliberately ignored in favor of
    complex ineffective and unnatural ones, kind to Money making traders and domineering overlords of society.
    The very simple very effective natural market solution of refraining from collecting taxes from present sources to more and more collecting taxation from Coal Oil and Gas at the well/mine or port would have
    solved the whole problem naturally quickly and without oppression and in favour of all benefiting not elites and Marketeers.
    It would result in
    -natural technology initiation of Non CO2 producing power generation
    -Far simpler taxation benefiting the innovative and poor.
    -Greater personal freedom
    -the ability to not penalise developing nations who need a break to develop.
    -No greater overall taxation or costs to society than present other than slight short term amounts as changes take place.

    -No guilt tripping for those who are keen to use old technologies….just higher costs.
    -No Complex (ridiculous) cost ineffective regimes set up to measure CO2 outputs at the end of every chimney exhaust pipe or literally Cows Butt.

    We would be well on our way Already! with such a solution that doesn’t result in any more political domination but actually a more simple taxation system that could be scaled up or down to suit the science smoothly without societal disruption.

    But that is Exactly why such a clear simple system was deliberately ignored….the Lust to derive power from this Man Made Crisis.

    As It becomes the Joke topic of the years ahead…..A new crisis will be manufactured….to harness humanity into slavery of those who would like to rule the world. Who think they know best and are no friends of either the earth nor freedom….but only their own egos.

  3. The very fact they know Mars and other planets in our solar system have gone through a warming phase. is enough to put an end to all this over exaggerated AGW/CC hype.

    James Hansen should be fired. His falsification of the GISS Temp records and all the faked Red hotspots he puts on the GISS temp maps is enough to codemn him for the fraudster he is. Let alone all his failed pontifications!
