Former heavyweight boxing champ and convicted rapist Mike Tyson has been banned from New Zealand just hours after boasting there was nothing that New Zealand Prime Minister John Key could do to prevent his visit.
Tyson had been given a visa to speak at a charity fundraiser in Auckland, in what the government described as “a line call” given his serious convictions.
Tyson then told a national radio audience he had no regrets about his conviction, and that if Prime Minister John Key didn’t like it, there was still nothing the New Zealand leader could do.
However, Associate Immigration Minister Kate Wilkison this morning cancelled Tyson’s entry permit, after the Life Education Trust Charity advised it wanted nothing further to do with Tyson and requested the visa cancellation.
