Gunmen at MIT are bombing suspects, described as ‘Middle Eastern’, one dead, one on the loose

Boston Police have captured a gunman armed with an assault rifle and explosives after a violent manhunt at MIT, across the river from Boston central, that left a police officer dead.

Boston police sources say the captured suspect died en route to hospital in the back of an ambulance.

They’ve just issued an alert that one gunman – the man wearing the white baseball cap – remains on the loose with an AK47 assault rifle and explosives.

Police have told Bostonians not to use their mobile phones for fear an explosive device could be triggered.

Boston SWAT teams are hunting a “Middle Eastern male last seen wearing a grey hoodie”, according to alerts on the Boston police radio channels tonight.

Police have sealed off the Watertown area of Cambridge, and are going house by house to find the bomber.
