UPDATE Dec 17 2012: Book names new suspect
A new book is expected to name a new person of interest in the case of murdered Swedish tourists Urban Hoglin and Heidi Paakkonen.
Missing Pieces, by InvestigateDaily editor Ian Wishart, is the first book to deal exclusively with the 1989 cold case crime, and will also include fresh revelations on the final sighting of Heidi Paakkonen alive, some weeks after police believe she had died.
Convicted killer and rapist David Tamihere was released two years ago after spending 21 years in jail for the double murder, but the book is expected to raise doubts about the integrity of the police investigation, and it will question whether the Paakkonen and Hoglin families were in fact cheated of justice in the case because of police actions.
No further details are being released by the publishers ahead of the early April publication.
