Russia nightclub fire claims 119th victim

PERM, Russia,  Dec. 8 (UPI) — The death toll from last weekend’s nightclub fire in Perm, Russia, has risen to 119, medical officials said Tuesday.

A local medic told RIA Novosti that one more victim had died in hospital, but a spokesman for Perm emergencies services did not confirm the report, saying, At this stage we are not in a position to either confirm or deny this information.

The apparent death comes one day after Russia observed a national day of mourning for the victims of the fire at the Lame Horse nightclub in the western Urals city.

Authorities say the fire was caused by an indoors fireworks display that malfunctioned. The news agency said criminal charges have been filed against three nightclub managers and a pyrotechnic company director.
